6 students arrested at LA school on drugs and weapons charges

Sheriff Michael L. Lafrance today announced the arrest of five adults and one juvenile in connection with a drugs and weapons sweep at Belle Chasse High School on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Working in cooperation with the Plaquemines Parish School Board and Belle Chasse High School Principal, Ms. Jemi Carlone, Plaquemines Parish Narcotics Agents, along with the Plaquemines Parish K-9 Division conducted a routine sweep of the Belle Chasse High School’s classroom areas and parking lot.

While no illegal drugs or weapons were found inside the school building, K9 “Renzo”, a canine specially trained to detect illegal drugs and weapons, indicated a positive response to several vehicles in the High School parking lot.
Upon further investigation, the narcotics Agents discovered several weapons and drugs, which resulted in the arrests of six students. In two separate cases, the agents recovered two .177 pellet pistols, which closely resemble 40 cal. Glock pistols.

The following students were arrested:

Derek Milton 17 of 111 Upsilon St., Belle Chasse
Possession of a firearm on school grounds. .177 pellet pistol.

Ross Baudot 17 of 113 E. 3rd St., Belle Chasse
Possession of a firearm on school grounds. .177 pellet pistol.

Joshua Wolsey 18 of 305 E. 3rd St, Belle Chasse
Possession of Marijuana on school grounds
Possession of a .77 pellet rifle on school grounds

Dustin J. Shaw 17 of 209 Delta St, Belle Chasse
Possession of Marijuana on school grounds
Possession of drug paraphernalia on school grounds

Blake Devine 17 of 121 Evangeline Trace
Possession of a 12 gauge shotgun on school grounds
Possession of a 270 cal rifle on school grounds

Known 16 year old juvenile
Possession of a 22 cal rifle on school grounds

Based on yesterday’s sweep, Plaquemines Parish Narcotics and K-9 Agents checked the Belle Chasse Middle School this morning. No violations were found.
