Bill banning sex offenders from social media sites expected to become law soon
Baton Rouge, La — A bill seeking to ban sex offenders, once again, from social media sites is expected to be signed into law soon by Governor Jindal.
A similar law was passed last year, but ultimately overturned by a federal judge in February, who said the law was too broad.
Legislators, with the backing of the Governor, went to work on tightening the language of the bill to clearly define what sites will now be off-limits to sex offenders.
Sites include any where a person can create a social profile intended to share with the public; this would include popular sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
