Bossier City Police arrested the now former general manager of a local hotel for stealing nearly $50,000 from her employer over the past year. 59-year old Janet Rene Middleton, of Bossier City, was arrested on three counts of theft after detectives were contacted by Middleton’s employer, who had uncovered alleged fraudulent activity through an internal audit.

Middleton worked as the general manager for the Rodeway Inn and Suites where she allegedly stole money from the hotel by having funds that were meant to be paid to the hotel transferred to her personal bank account and stealing hotel bank deposit funds. Middleton tried to cover up her activity by manipulating the hotel’s financial records. Investigators found she had taken more than $48,000 since September of 2010.

Middleton was booked into the Bossier City Jail and was taken to the Bossier Parish Maximum Facility.
