GRAND BAYOU,LA - A semi collided with a train Wednesday afternoon on Hwy 84 near Hwy 1.
According to Louisiana State Police, a train struck the back end of the semi as it was crossing the railroad.
The engineer and conductor of the train were airlifted to a local hospital. The driver of the semi and a passenger in the truck were also taken by ambulance.
Four locomotives and 15 cars carrying grain and aggregate were derailed. Cars that remained on the track were hauling hazardous material.
Traffic is being re-routed from I-49 to Hwy 509 or 177, and Hwy 1 is open. Repairs could take another day before Hwy 84 is open.
Crews continue to clear the wreck and lay railroad Thursday morning.
