Shreveport Police detectives have arrested another suspect in connection with a shooting in north Shreveport last week that left a local man nursing a gunshot wound.

At approximately 12:41 a.m. on September 7, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 2000 block of Addition Avenue relative to a shooting. Upon arrival there, officers found 53 year old Willie Collins suffering from a single gunshot wound to his back. Collins was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a serious injury.

Detectives were immediately dispatched and learned that there had been an ongoing dispute between some male suspects and at least one person living in the home there on Addition Avenue. During the course of this dispute, a male suspect involved in the altercation fired several shots at the home, one of which struck Mr. Collins. Investigators subsequently arrested 30 year old Demarcus Burns of the 2900 block of Peach Street in Shreveport and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted first degree murder.

Investigators have now charged a second suspect in this case. At approximately 9:35 p.m. last night, detectives arrested 28 year old Decarlos Theus of the 6500 block of Tierra Circle in Shreveport and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted first degree murder.
