Authorities are currently combing the area southeast of Haughton for robbery suspect Thomas R. Dooly, of Monroe.

The 28-year-old is suspected of robbing McGuire's Recycling at gunpoint around 10 a.m. Friday. McGuire's is located on the 6300 block off Highway 80.

Bossier Sheriff's Deputies tell KMSS Dooly pulled a gun on the owner, whom he knew, robbed him and then fled in his truck. A Haughton officer responding to the robbery was shot at by Dooly. The bullet missed and hit the officer's unit. A high speed chase ensued on Highway 80 into Webster Parish, then back into Bossier Parish.

During the chase, Dooly attempted to run down Bossier deputies in their units and shot at them. They returned fire at his truck, but it is unknown if Dooley was ever struck by a bullet. Speeds were reached in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Dooly eventually turned onto Gas Well Road on Highway 528 and abandoned his truck.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are currently searching for Dooly with assistance from bloodhound dogs and a helicopter above.

Thomas Dooly is described as a 5' 8" white male. As of now, he will be charged with attempted murder of a peace officer, aggravated flight of an officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Other charges are pending.

No injuries have been reported.
