House bill could ban talking on cellphones while driving
BATON ROUGE, LA — A House committee has approved a bill that would ban drivers from using their cell phones while driving.
House Bill 695 was authored by Democratic Representative Austin Badon.
It would allow drivers to use their cell phones only if they used a hands-free device.
Right now, it's only illegal for Louisiana drivers to text while driving. Also, drivers 17 and younger can't talk on the phone when driving.
The bill now moves to the House floor for debate.
