Detectives have arrested a Shreveport man after he reportedly assaulted a female victim and then initially refused to surrender to officers.
At approximately 3:05 p.m. this afternoon, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a home in the 600 block of W. 67th Street relative to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult female victim who advised them that 35 year old Kenya Stanfield had assaulted her with a firearm. Officers immediately began their investigation and uncovered information that led them to believe Stanfield had concealed himself in a home in the 2400 block of Lindholm Street. Officers went to the home there and attempted to contact the suspect to no avail.
Due to the violent nature of the alleged crime, Special Response Team officers and negotiators were dispatched to the scene and began making attempts to contact Stanfield in order to take him into custody peacefully. This multi-jurisdictional effort that included authorities from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Shreveport City Marshal's Office lasted a little over an hour. Just before 5:30 p.m. Kenya Stanfield exited the residence and surrendered himself to officers without incident.
Detectives have now charged Kenya Stanfield with one count of illegal use of a weapon, one count of domestic abuse battery and one count of illegal use of a weapon from a vehicle. Stanfield, of the 1600 block of Fullerton Street in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
