A local man who allegedly attempted to rob a west Shreveport nail salon is behind bars after being spotted and apprehended by a quick thinking patrolman.

At approximately 6:35 p.m. Wednesday night, officers were dispatched to the Top Nails Salon in the 8200 block of Jewella Avenue to an armed robbery call. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect wearing a mask and gloves entered the store brandishing a handgun. The suspect demanded money and when that demand was not immediately complied with, he fled the business without any loot. No one was injured during the attempted robbery.

Less than thirty minutes later, near the intersection of Mansfield Road and Kingston Road, an officer, who was searching for the robbery suspect, stopped a black Mitsubishi after he witnessed the driver run a stop sign. As the Officer approached the vehicle, he observed clothing in the backseat of the car similar to the description of the clothes the robber had been wearing. Upon further investigation, officers located a silver handgun, mask and gloves in the car. Witnesses then positively identified the suspect as the man who tried to rob the nail salon.

Detectives subsequently charged 23-year old-Christopher Bell with one count of attempted armed robbery. Bell was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
