Man arrested for stealing from Shreveport Rescue Mission

Thursday, January 20, 2011 - 6:15pm

Caddo Sheriff's detectives arrested a man for stealing $13,000 from the Shreveport Rescue Mission, according to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Edward Geiger, 51, was the resident manager for the Rescue Mission at 2033 Texas Street where he was accused of pocketing rent payments collected from shelter tenants between November and December. He failed to turn in monthly reports and deposits for those months; however, he gave tenants receipts showing the rent was collected. When Geiger was asked for the reports and deposits he left the shelter and never returned.

Detectives Yomeka Evans and Bobby Herring of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force located Geiger today at a local motel. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.
