Man turns himself in after deadly hit and run

A Shreveport man has been arrested after the vehicle he was driving struck and killed a 66 year old woman on I-20 in Bossier City Monday night. 36 year old Luis Antonio Diaz was booked into the Bossier City Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, DWI second offense, felony hit and run and no driver's license. Shreveport police took Diaz into custody at his home in the 3000 block of Valley Ridge Road after he called Caddo 911 at approximately 10pm stating he had hit someone on I-20 earlier in the evening.

At approximately 8:20 pm Monday Bossier City police and fire responded to a report of a woman being hit by a car on I-20 westbound at Hamilton Road. According to witnesses the woman stopped her Ford Focus in the outside lane of I-20, possibly as the result of a mechanical issue, and was struck by a car after she stepped out of her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Diaz's car, a dark green Saturn SL match the description of the suspect vehicle provided by witnesses and was impounded by Bossier City police.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
