Man's death ruled homicide, police search for shooter

Thursday, June 2, 2011 - 1:38pm

A man shot in Shreveport earlier this year has died, and his death has now been ruled a homicide.

Just before 1:00 a.m. on March 14, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Prospect relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered 41-year-old Delon Williams suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Williams advised the officers that two male suspects kicked in his door and shot him. Williams was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he later under went surgery. Detectives were notified and immediately began their investigation.

On May 15, 2011, patrolmen were dispatched to a deceased person call at a home in the 1500 block of Easy Street where they found Delon Williams deceased. Caddo Parish Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma responded to the scene and subsequently determined Williams ultimately died as the result of being shot back in March. Consequently Dr. Thoma ruled the death a homicide.

Detectives investigating the initial shooting were able to tentatively identify two possible suspects and they will continue working toward charging those responsible for this crime appropriately.
