A Shreveport man was arrested today for operating a meth lab near a local high school, according to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Police Chief Willie Shaw.

53-year-old Steven Beaird was arrested by agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force following a brief investigation.

Agents executed a search warrant at Beaird's home on the 9100 block of Walker Road around 6:30 a.m., after receiving complaints about possible drug activity there. Components used to make meth were discovered in Beaird's kitchen and bedroom.

Beaird was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for creating/operating a clandestine lab, being a felon in possession of firearm, and violating CDS laws within a drug-free school zone. Beaird's home is located less than 1,000 feet of Southwood High School.
