Shreveport Police Detectives have made an arrest in an early morning shooting that has left one man dead and another man suffering serious injuries.
Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the La Tierra Drive apartments in the 6100 block of Tierra Drive at approximately 2:52 a.m. this morning to a report of two men being shot near the front entrance of the complex. On officer’s arrival, they found an man dead in the apartment building's west parking lot. The victim, who was identified as 26-year old Jonathan Simo of Shreveport, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gun shot wounds.
A second victim, identified as 18-year old Devon Marshall also of Shreveport, was shot multiple times and transported to a local hospital with what has been described as serious injuries.
Information gathered on scene revealed that the Simo and Marshall were shot by a single assailant that arrived on the scene driving a white SUV. Witnesses informed authorities that the suspect exited the vehicle, and opened fire, first striking Marshall, and subsequently Simo. The suspect, described as a black male dressed in all black clothing, fled the scene following the shooting.
Detectives, using information recovered at the scene, were able to develop a suspect in the shooting in the person of 22 year old Laquinn Murray of the 6200 block of Frondosa Street in Shreveport. Murray was taken into custody by police at his home and transported to police headquarters. Following interviews by Detectives, Murray was arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder and a single count of attempted second degree murder.
