One arrested in Shreveport shooting
A local man has been arrested after police responded to a report of gunshots fired in the downtown area early Saturday morning.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. Saturday, Shreveport police patrol officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen about gunshots being fired in the 600 block of Commerce Street. Upon arrival, officers talked to witnesses who told them that a male suspect had fired multiple gunshots both inside and outside of Club Voodoo. Based on those statements and other information gathered by first responders, authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Kevin Mack. Officers also seized a handgun they believe Mack used in the crime.
Just moments later an adult male victim, identified as ShaDerrick Shine, arrived at a local hopsital in a private vehicle suffering from what has been described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the right arm. Shine told detectives that he was inside of Club Voodoo, when suddenly he heard gunshots and was struck once in the arm. Investigators report that the victim and suspect did not know each other and they believe that the victim was not an intended target.
Mack, of Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of illegal use of a weapon. Detectives are still working to determine why he began shooting.
