Officers with the Shreveport Police have arrested a local man after they observed him breaking into a payphone.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, detectives were conducting surveillance at a convenience store in the 4100 block of Hollywood Avenue when they observed a male suspect trying to break into a pay phone. The detectives confronted the man and took him into custody without incident.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Dante Young, was taken into custody without incident. As their investigation progressed, the detectives discovered wrenches and wire cutters on Young’s person that he had apparently been using to break into the phone. Dante Young, of Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of criminal property damage to coin operated devices and possession of burglary tools.
