Shreveport police have one suspect in custody, but now need your help in finding a second suspect involved in a November armed robbery outside of a Shreveport apartment complex.
On November 1, Shreveport police responded to an armed robbery call at the Wellington Square Apartments in the 1800 block of Jewella Avenue. Two female victims were in a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the apartment complex when two male suspects approached them. "At least one of the males produced a handgun and began to steal items from the two victims," said Sgt. Bill Goodin, Shreveport police spokesman.
Shortly after the incident, detectives were able to arrest Jawuan Dotie in connection with the armed robbery. Around November 18, detectives were also able to identify 18 year old Jeremy Lewis of Shreveport as the second suspect. An arrest warrant charges Lewis on one count of armed robbery.
Authorities say this type of crime is uncommon and are unsure of any relationship between the victims and the suspects at this time. Particularly this year, "business robberies and robberies in general are down considerably," Sgt. Goodin told us. "We've seen dramatic decreases this year in robberies, so this is not something that is very common."
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Lewis, you are urged to call Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
