Possible murder-suicide in Southern Hills neighborhood
Shreveport police released the following information:
Shreveport Police detectives are currently investigating a shooting that left a couple dead in a quiet west Shreveport neighborhood.
Just before 4:30 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a home in the 800 block of Flournoy-Lucas Road relative to a 911 call. Upon arrival there, officers contacted the complainant who reported to them that shots were fired inside the residence and that at least one person was believed to have been shot. Officers checked around the residence and found nothing out of place and no signs of any kind of forced entry. Officers made repeated attempts to make contact with the occupants of the home, to no avail. Members of the Shreveport Police Departments Special Response Team were dispatched to the location eventually making dynamic entry into the residence. Upon making entry into the residence, officers subsequently discovered an adult male and an adult female in the home deceased. Each of the victims suffered at least a single gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered in the home. A three year old child inside the residence at the time of the shooting was unharmed and released to family members.
Detectives are still working this afternoon to piece together exactly what led to this tragic shooting but, based on information and evidence gathered at the scene, investigators now believe that 40 year old Ryan Douglas, of the 800 block of Flournoy-Lucas Road, shot and killed his wife, identified as 49 year old Carolyn Douglas, also of the 800 block of Flournoy-Lucas Road, and then shot himself. The investigation is ongoing at this hour. Special thanks to the Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office for their assistance in this matter.
SHREVEPORT- A domestic argument between a Shreveport couple turned into murder-suicide Monday morning on the 800 block of Flournoy Lucas Road in the Southern Hills area.
According to Shreveport Police spokesperson Detective Marcus Hines, Ryan Douglas, 40, and wife Carolyn, 49, were arguing when Carolyn's daughter, who was not identified, ran from the house, leaving her 3-year old inside after hearing several guns shots.
Police arrived shortly before 5 a.m. and attempted to make contact with the Douglas’. After not hearing from either person, a SWAT unit was called. Upon entering the house, they found Mr. Douglas shot and wife several times too. Investigators believe Mr. Douglas shot his wife multiple times, then himself.
The 3-year was found asleep and uninjured in another part of the house unaware of his grandparents deaths.
