A Shreveport Police patrol officer has arrested two Texas men for stealing items from a truck after their would-be victim called and notified authorities of the theft.

At approximately 7:50 p.m. on June 26, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the Motel 6 in the 7200 block of Greenwood Road relative to a vehicle burglary in progress. The caller reported to dispatchers he heard a noise coming from outside of his room there and as he looked out into the parking lot, he observed two male subjects stealing items from his truck. Upon arrival, patrolmen spotted the two men trying to climb into the bed of the victim’s pick-up truck and they were taken into custody at that time without incident.

Investigating officers discovered the men had stolen items from the victim’s vehicle including an ice chest which was later found hidden behind the motel. The suspects, identified as 60 year old Billy McCann and 48 year old John Weaver, both of Malakoff, Texas, were subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple burglary each.
