Shreveport police arrest woman for cruelty to a juvenile

Shreveport Police have arrested a local woman in connection with an investigation into injuries suffered by a five week old infant.

On July 14, 2010, Shreveport Police detectives were dispatched to Willis Knighton South Hospital relative to a five week old female there suffering from a broken right femur. Detectives immediately began an investigation and learned that the victim’s mother brought her to the emergency room at the hospital reporting that the victim’s five year old sibling had accidentally caused the injury.

As a result of information gathered during their investigation, detectives have arrested the infant’s mother, 20 year old Alana Williams of the 9000 block of Cedar Creek Circle in Shreveport, and booked her into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of cruelty to a juvenile. Detectives report this investigation is ongoing and Williams may face additional charges. Child Protective Services is also investigating this case and they have placed the infant and her five year old sibling into protective custody.
