Monday, November 15, 2010 - 12:43pm

Shreveport police have arrested a local woman who allegedly robbed a southeast Shreveport convenience store Friday.

At approximately 6:02 p.m. on Friday, patrol officers responded to a reported robbery at the Chevron located in the 7900 block of Youree Drive. Upon arrival there, officers learned that a white female suspect with panty hose covering her face entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. While the suspect did not produce a weapon, she led the clerk to believe she was armed. The bandit fled the scene of the crime with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery.

Responding officers immediately began searching for the suspect and a Shreveport Police K-9 Unit led them to a nearby parking lot where they found the panty hose used as a mask and money believed to have been taken during the robbery. This evidence was recovered and robbery detectives were summoned to the scene.

Investigators developed a suspect and on November 13, 2010 were able to take 29 year old Shawna Bates into custody without incident at her residence in the 7800 block of Youree Drive. Bates was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple robbery.
