Shreveport safety checkpoint leads to warrant arrest

The Shreveport Police Department is releasing the results of a safety checkpoint held last weekend.

The checkpoint was held Saturday night, June 2, 2012 in the 9000 block of Walker Road as an integral component of an ongoing, singular commitment on the part of law enforcement officials to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on our roadways. Officers with the police department as well as Louisiana State Police troopers were checking for impaired drivers as well as any other violations that could potentially compromise the safety of motorists.

During the four hour operation officers issued 95 citations for seatbelt violations, 11 citations for child restraint violations and 26 citations for a variety of other traffic offenses. Two subjects were arrested and they are listed as follows:

Breonne Giles, 28 years old, of the 6000 block of Yukon Drive in Shreveport, booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an outstanding warrant through the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office for disturbing the peace

Joshua Folks, 23 years old, of the 10000 block of Woolworth Road in Keithville, Louisiana, booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of resisting an officer, one count of failure to use a safety belt, and an outstanding warrant through the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office
