Shreveport student vying for $100K

A Shreveport student is making big strides when it comes to helping others.

17-year old Joy Shan is vying for a $100,000 award from the Siemens Corporation for her research in type 1 diabetes. Shan is a participant in the smart science medicine and research training program. The program is part of a research team looking into a molecule related to type 1 diabetes.

Shan with travel to the University of Texas in Austin this weekend for her recognized research.
