A local woman who apparently shot herself in the hand during a dispute in North Shreveport this evening has been arrested.
At around 6:15 p.m. on Monday, Shreveport officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Grimmett Drive to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 42-year-old Sheila Marshall suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. Marshall was taken to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a non life-threatening injury.
Detectives discovered Marshall had allegedly been involved in some type of altercation with a group of on Grimmett Drive when she armed herself with a handgun and fired a shot, which hit her in her own hand. No one else was injured.
Investigators seized two firearms they believe were involved in the incident and charged Marshall with one count of illegal use of a weapon and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Marshall will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail when she is released from the hospital.
