Sobriety checkpoint yields no drunk drivers

The Bossier City Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint over the weekend in the 5300 block of East Texas Street which resulted in no DWI arrests.

Two people contacted in the checkpoint were booked into the Bossier City Jail, one on a charge of possession of marijuana and the other for operating a motor vehicle without lawful presence in the United States.

The checkpoint began at 10 p.m. Saturday, April 16 and was conducted for five hours. Officers checked a total of 384 vehicles.

The checkpoint was funded by grant money from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
