SPD looking for a few good men and women
The Shreveport Police Department is looking for a few good men and women who are ready for an exciting, adventurous career offering competitive salaries, great benefits, and more importantly, an opportunity to give something back and make our city a better place to work, live, and play.
The Shreveport Police Department has an allocated strength of 578 sworn officers who protect and serve a population of around 200,000. Every year Shreveport police officers respond to about 275,000 calls for service and book over 15,000 offenders into the Shreveport City Jail. The department offers a number of challenging assignments including, but not limited to, Patrol, Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, K-9 Unit, Mounted Patrol, Lake Patrol, Traffic, and Bicycle Patrol.
The police department is currently taking applications for the position of police officer. In an effort to make the application process as efficient as possible, recruiters will be touring the city in the coming months bringing their message to the streets. The department’s Mobile Command Center will be deployed this Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Wal-Mart located at 1645 East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
