A local man has been arrested by Shreveport Police after evidence recovered from a crime scene linked him to a residential burglary.

Back on October 24, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a residential burglary at a home in the 2900 block of Peach Street. Upon arrival there, officers contacted the victim who reported to them she discovered that someone had forced open a window and entered her residence. At that time it did not appear that anything had been stolen from the home.

Detectives were notified and began their investigation. Based on evidence recovered from the scene of the crime investigators were able to develop a suspect. This morning authorities contacted that suspect, identified as 20 year old Michael Evans, and took him into custody without incident. Evans, of the 1700 block of Jessie Owens Street in Shreveport, was charged with one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
