Shreveport Police are investigating the shooting death of a teenager whose body was discovered in north Shreveport yesterday evening.
On August 1, 2010, at approximately 6:27 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to an overgrown lot at the intersection of Audrey Lane and Thomas E. Howard Drive relative to a body at that location. A passer-by notified dispatchers that a male was lying on the ground in the lot there and appeared to be deceased. Upon arrival, officers found sixteen year old Samuel R. Anderson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and lower extremities. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched to the scene of the crime and are working at this time to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects responsible for this shooting. Crime scene investigators recovered evidence, including shell casings, from the area and are processing that evidence as they assist detectives.
Chief of Police Willie Shaw, who was at the crime scene last night working with detectives, commented on the city’s 22nd homicide, saying, “This is a senseless tragedy and our investigators will utilize all of our resources to discover exactly what led to this young man’s death. As I have said in the past, addressing gun violence is one of our top priorities and any criminal who chooses to resolve a conflict illegally with a firearm will be dealt with accordingly.”
Anyone with any information regarding this shooting is urged to call Shreveport Police Detective Jeff Brown at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
