Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says a man from Mooringsport was arrested this weekend after deputies found two bags of marijuana in his car.
Alex C. Coffman, 19, of tMooringsport, was reportedly speeding on Palmetto Road Friday night. A Bossier deputy saw the vehicle a small time later on Old Palmetto Road after leaving a nearby parking lot and noticed there were several ball caps on the front dash obscuring the view of the driver.
When the deputy made contact with Coffman, he appeared very nervous. Coffman gave the deputy consent to search his vehicle, and two bags of suspected marijuana were found in the glove box. The deputy also found a suspected marijuana roach inside the ashtray, which field tested positive for marijuana.
Coffman was charged with possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction to driver’s view. He was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility with a bond of $10,700. Coffman has two prior arrests for possession of marijuana over the past two years.
