Would-be burglars caught in the act

Two Shreveport men are behind bars after getting caught in the act of a burglary Tuesday night.

Police were called to a residential burglary in progress yesterday evening in Shreveport's Sunset Acres neighborhood. At around 7:08 p.m. officers were dispatched to a reported burglary in progress at a house in the 3200 block of Wagner Street . The homeowner told dispatchers that they saw two men break into their house and were still inside.

When the suspects noticed the homeowner, they ran from the residence through a back door. Upon arrival, patrolmen were able to locate the two would-be burglars following a brief foot chase where the thieves attempted to allude officers. Both suspects were caught and found to be those responsible for burglarizing the residence.

The men were identified as 42-year old Michael Mitchell and 23-year old Demetrius Bradford both of the 3200 block of Wagner Street in Shreveport. Both men were charged with one count each of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. The suspects were booked into the city jail.
