Shreveport, La — Three men and two juveniles are behind bars tonight following their arrests by Shreveport Police officers in connection with an unauthorized entry and aggravated assault on yesterday.
Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Shreveport Police officers responded to a home in the 200 block of West 69th Street relative to reports that a group of males, one allegedly armed with a hand gun, pointed the weapon and threatened bodily harm against a resident who lived on the street. On officers arrival at the scene, witnesses advised that the group of males were last seen running inside a home located in the 300 block of West 69th Street. Investigating officers arrived at the home making contact with an adult male who resided there. The man, who had just arrived home, informed officers that no one should be inside his home and granted officers permission to search his residence. Having been informed that at least one of the men was possibly armed, the assistance of a trained police K-9 was requested to clear the home. During search efforts, three males were taken into custody after exiting the home under warnings that a police K-9 would be dispatched to enter the residence upon their failure to comply with officers commands to come out. Two additional males were apprehended inside the home by K-9 Mico after their failure to comply with repeated verbal warnings to exit the home were rendered by K-9 handler Cpl. Chris Yarborough. Two juvenile suspects were treated for minor injuries as a resulting from a dog bite sustained during their apprehension. The three adult male suspects and the two juveniles face charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. The suspects arrested included: Jacorey Huggins, 21, of the 500 block of Egan Street in Shreveport, Charavious Coleman, 17, of the 400 block of West 65th Street in Shreveport and 17 year old David Green of the 300 block of West 69th Street in Shreveport. All three men were booked into the Shreveport City Jail. Additional charges of aggravated assault were brought against David Green, while Jacorey Huggins was booked as a fugitive due to an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. The two juvenile suspects were transported and booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Authorities credit the arrests of the offenders in part to the swift response of officers to the scene, cooperation from neighbors, along with the training and competence of K-9 resources.
