Flu prevention

Flu cases are at an all time high nationwide and here in the Ark-La-Tex as well. So what exactly are you doing to prevent the flu from becoming a resident in your home?

Michelle Davidson with the Red Cross says it’s very simple. “ Try to remain distant from people who are sick.”

The flu is now in all but 3 states. Louisiana has not seen any child deaths, but at least 6 children have died in Texas. Nine people have died from the flu in Arkansas, that number includes one child.

“ It may be difficult, but if you can try not to touch your face, nose, eyes, mouth and make sure you wash your hands frequently,” said Davidson.

Red Cross is also hosting a flu vaccination clinic on January 15th at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Red Cross office on Brook Hollow Drive. Each flu shot will cost $25.
