Free legal clinic for veterans

The Shreveport Bar Foundation is offering free legal advice to veterans. No appointment is needed, and they will help with any type of law.
This program is funded with a grant from the Louisiana Bar Foundation, enabling them to help vets that need it. Gernine Mailhes, of the foundation, says that a lot of vets are homeless because of arrests in their past. In many cases, a DWI is keeping them from passing a background check necessary for many employers. She said that at first, she was surprised by the number of vets that come to them looking to expunge a record, but it makes sense.
The clinic will be at the Highland Center (VOA) from 11am-1pm on October 9. They will also be having free clinics on January 8 and April 9 of 2013.
