Cold snap causes record number of fires
LOUISIANA — The recent cold snap is keeping firefighters across the state very busy.
In fact there has been more fires in the past two weeks than Louisiana has seen in 20- years.
The State Fire Marshal's office says they've investigated fifty fires since the start of the year.
That's the number they usually investigate a month!
Officials say so far there have been 150- significant fires here in Louisiana and a total of nine people have been killed.
Firefighters say this recent cold snap is to blame because more people are using space heaters to stay warm.
