Man Dies After Shot By Caddo Parish Deputy
A Caddo Sheriff's Deputy fatally shot a man Thursday, who allegedly pointed a gun at him.
Officials say, a deputy responded to a family trouble call.
When he arrived on scene, the nephew of the Jon Lucas said his uncle had been firing shots at his feet and he was afraid for his life.
The officer then reportedly found Lucas on the porch, when the man raised his gun at the officer.
Officials say, the deputy then fired, killing Lucas.
They also say, this wasn't their first run-in with Lucas.
"Deputies were out there in April 2008, at which time Mr. Lucas then threatened deputies, and was subsequently committed," said Sherrif Don Prator. "He had a knife, hatchet, and guns, at that time threatened family members and himself and deputies, so he is not new to the Caddo Parish Sheriffs Deputies Office. This is a very unfortunate situation."
Officials say, an internal investigation is pending, but they say the officer acted appropriately in the situation.
Right now, the officer is on paid administrative leave.
