Officials concerned about bus stop safety
SHREVEPORT — Local Shreveport officials are looking to make bus stops safer around the area.
The concern comes after this month's rape and kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl from a Caddo school.
Officials say children often stand alone at bus stops during dark morning hours.
Police say a 22-year-old woman was raped Saturday in the same area, but authorities don't believe the rapes are related.
Reports show that rapes tripled in the month of August when compared to the previous year.
A new Community Response Unit will be alert, and officers in unmarked cars are patrolling the area.
