Independence Bowl renews SEC ties

Friday, June 8, 2012 - 8:15am

The AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl will renew its ties with the Southeastern Conference, according to local Independence Bowl officials. The bowl has worked with the Moutain West Conference for the past two years, after a 15-year run with the SEC.

"We enjoyed 15 years of success with them from 1995-2009, and we've hosted 10 of their teams in our game, including newcomers Texas A&M and most recently Missouri," said Chairman Jack Andres. "Our local ticket buyers and sponsors are familiar with the teams in the SEC and we hope this will generate even more local support for our game. We sincerely appreciate the willingness of Commissioner Thompson and Bret Gilliland at the Mountain West to work with us on making this happen."

The game is set for December 28, 2012 at 1 P.M.
