Across the Ark-La-Tex on Memorial Day, there are dozens of barbecues and backyard parties. However, there are also many ceremonies, reminding us what the day truly means. The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville played host to a large crowd for its Memorial Day commemoration, with remarks given by General Charles Campbell, retired U.S. Army. His address focused on the sacrifices of the fallen, with the backdrop of more than 70 military members who are buried at the NW LA Veterans Cemetery. "They understand that the price must be paid,, that sacrifices must be made, yet they ask only for the opportunity to serve," he said. In addition to veterans and their families, more than 150 Patriot Guard Riders also attended the Keithville memorial.
