Crews are still working to clear roads and power lines after severe weather swept through the Ark-La-Tex Tuesday evening, including a confirmed EF-2 tornado that touched down in DeSoto Parish. That storm heavily damaged a Logansport home, when a tree crashed into the family's kitchen.
Driving up on his childhood home, Rusty Hall says he could barely recognize it. "I couldn't see anything, just crawled through a lot of timber," he said. That's where he found his parents, who had lived in the home for over 30 years. He says they're both uninjured, but shaken by the experience. They're vowing to do whatever it takes to clean up and get back inside their house.
Dozens of friends and community members had gathered just hours after the storm, and by midnight they'd already begun clearing trees. "We have the best friends, the best family, the best community," Hall said. "Lots of people have been here."
Parish officials say it will take several days to clear fallen trees near Funston Road. They're cautioning motorists to be careful when traveling the area.
