It's been eleven days since one-year-old Roderius "Bobo" Lott was found unconscious at his home on Broadway Avenue and rushed to the hospital. Hours later, he was declared dead, and just last week, his father, Rodricus Crawford, was charged with murder. Now the Crawford family is speaking out, saying they don't believe he's guilty of hurting his child.
"He took care of the child. I have never seen him put the child's life in danger, I never seen him do anything that could have hurt the baby," said Crawford's brother, Fostrabz Thomas. The family says Bobo's mother, Kissy Lott, has been in contact with Crawford and does not blame him for his death. "She is with Rodricus 100 percent and they are just talking to each other and being strong for each other at this time," said Latasha Cosby, Crawford's aunt.
A release by the Shreveport Police Department did not detail what evidence was collected or the child's cause of death. The release reads in part:
Detectives, working closely with officials from the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office as well as the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office, procured the arrest warrant based on information gathered and evidence recovered during the course of the ongoing investigation. Crawford, who was already incarcerated in the Caddo Correctional Center on unrelated charges, faces a $300,000 bond on the murder charge.
The Crawford and Lott families held visitation and funeral services for the child over the weekend. Rodricus Crawford remains behind bars.
