Mother's Day is known as a day to celebrate mom, but it looks like retailers had a reason to celebrate as well. Total spending for the day was expected to top $18 billion this year. The average American spent more than $150 on presents and meals for mom. That's a $12 increase from last year.  Mother's Day is one of the nation's fastest-growing retail holidays, according to the National Retail Federation.
