2 Texas A&M students, 1 other killed in possible drunk driving wreck
Houston, Tx (CNN) — It was a grisly scene after a crash that killed three people, including two freshmen from Texas A&M University.
It happened near Houston early Sunday morning. Police say a white Mustang hit an SUV carrying three students and burst into flames.
The 18-year-olds were in A&M's military group, the Corps of Cadets. One student survived and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the Mustang also died.
The victims have been identified as Amy Pacheco and Miguel Hernandez, also 18. Francisco Campos, a front seat passengers, was last reported in stable condition at a Houston hospital.
According to police, the driver of the car, Katie Thomas, was driving the wrong way on the highway when she hit the students.
Authorities believe alcohol was a factor after finding beer bottles in the car.
