Caddo Parish, La — In the unincorporated Shreveport area of Ray Road, speeders are generally the only law breakers, but that all changed Monday morning, when 9 homeowners came outside and saw that their cars had ben broken in to.
But all of these break-ins could have been prevented.... if people had locked their car doors.
Most of the cars were only missing spare change and cigarettes, but one person had work supplies valued at $3,000 taken from him and a gun was taken from one of the unlocked cars.
Caddo Sheriff's Office is calling these crimes a "crime of opportunity" because it's possible that they only happened because the cars were unlocked. They want to remind all people to lock their car doors and keep valuables hidden or locked up, out of site from criminals who might want to take what is not theirs.
Anybody with information on these crimes is urged to call Caddo Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
