A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a mother and her two children. This is the first homicide investigation for the city of Lockport in roughly 40 years.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office officially arrested David Brown, 34, for the incident that occurred on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. He’s charged with three counts of First-Degree Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Arson.

Officials believe Brown broke into the home of Jacqueline Gautreaux Nieves, 29, which is located on Elliot Drive in Lockport. Investigators allege Brown killed her as well as her two daughters ages 6 and 1. They claim he then set fire to the apartment to cover up the stabbing deaths.

Investigators eventually connected Brown to the case after learning that he had already been arrested for breaking into another home located in the same apartment complex as Nieves. Brown allegedly committed battery of the victim in that case.

Brown was being held in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a bond of $110,000 since that time.
