Shreveport, LA — Authorities have captured a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a local man two months ago in east Shreveport.
Back on April 7, 2013, Shreveport Police responded to the 200 block of East 78th Street relative to reports of a man having been shot while at another location. On scene at the home, officers met with the shooting victim identified as 23 year old Tyrel Diggs of Shreveport. Information gained from the investigation indicated that Diggs was at A.B.Palmer Park when a dispute between him and another man believed to be known to him erupted. During the dispute, Diggs indicated that the suspect produced a hand gun a shot him in the leg. Diggs, who received minor injury, was treated on scene for his injuries.
During an ongoing investigation, Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives gathered information linking 32 year old Rodriquez Smith of Shreveport to the crime. Authorities secured a warrant for the arrest of Smith charging him with illegal use of a weapon. Smith was taken into custody at approximately 9:00 this evening while in the parking lot of a convenience store located at the intersection of East 70th Street and Southern Avenue. Smith following interviews with detectives was booked into the Shreveport City jail.
