Beefing up security
SHREVEPORT, La. (KMSS) — Beefing up security in elementary schools is one of the top priorities for Bossier Schools.
School resource officers are at every middle and high school throughout the system in Bossier Parish and four officers are currently rotating throughout the elementary schools.
Officials from the school system and the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office are currently working on a plan to add permanent resource officers to all elementary schools.
The plans are still in the development stage, but the entire idea was made possible by the tax credits that were voted on earlier this month in the parish.
Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office says they are hoping to have the permanent officers placed in the school at the beginning of next school year but didn’t hesitate to say it might take longer.
