Beloved Wiley College professor killed in motorcycle wreck

Wiley College Professor Valentyn Siniak died in a motorcycle accident on Friday night, a Wiley College spokesperson tells KETK.

Siniak, 37, was driving his motorcycle westbound on Hwy. 80 when he ran into a pickup, which was turning onto Loop 390, according to a report by the Marshall News Messenger.

Siniak was taken to a local hospital, but later died of his injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the wreck.

According to Wiley College officials, Siniak was an assistant professor of Biology.

Wiley College released the following statement to KETK, following Siniak's death:

"Wiley College is saddened by the passing of Dr. Valentyn Siniak, an assistant professor of biology at the College. Dr. Siniak was killed in a traffic accident Friday night.

Dr. Haywood L. Strickland, President, and the entire Wiley family convey deepest condolences to Dr. Siniak's family.

The Wiley College Chaplain and other support staff will be available to offer grief counseling to Wiley students, faculty, and staff."
