A local bookkeeper was arrested for giving herself a pay raise without the boss’s permission, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Shirley Yates, 62, of the 400 block of Coventry Court, turned herself in June 3rd on a warrant obtained by Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.

Yates, who worked at a local construction company, is accused of manipulating the payroll between September and May to give herself pay increases and unauthorized advances which were never paid back. The theft was discovered by a company accountant who thought it was suspicious that Yates was the only employee to receive a raise.
