Emergency crews were called to a local grocery store Wednesday morning on reports of a person who had been run over by a vehicle.

When medical officials arrived on scene at the Super 1 Foods, located in the 1800 block of Airline Drive, they learned a woman had just been rolled over by her own car.

According to Bossier City Police Department Spokesman Mark Natale, they believe the grandmother had left children in the car with it running. Soon after, the 3-year-old allegedly got out of her car seat and into the front seat. Another child, 7, tried to cut the engine, but accidentally put it in reverse.

The grandmother attempted to jump back in the car, but was thrown to the ground when she opened the driver's side door. The vehicle then ran her over.

The unidentified woman has been taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
