Bossier City road closed to replace power pole

One road in Bossier City is closed to through traffic while SWEPCO crews work to replace a power pole that was damaged after being struck by a car.

It happened at 7:30 p.m. at the 1600 block of Barksdale Blvd.

SWEPCO crews tell Bossier City Police that crews expect it to take five to six hours to replace the pole during which time the closure will remain in effect.

No powerlines were knocked to the ground.

The woman driving the car at the time of the accident was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses tell police the same vehicle had struck two other vehicles at the intersection of Barksdale Boulevard and Westgate Drive just moments before the crash.

The vehicle kept traveling north on Barksdale until the driver lost conrtol and hit the power pole at Barksdale and Old Minden.

The driver could face charges of hit-and-run.

Officials also suspect alcohol was a factor and the driver could also face a DWI charge pending results of an alcohol blood test.
